What is the difference?

The difference between a psychologist and a therapist

There are different licensed mental health professionals who are able to help us when it comes to improving our lives or fixing our problems. When you are searching for therapy it is useful to know what the differences are between mental health care issues. Mental health professionals provide therapy where you can talk about the problems in an environment where you feel at ease and safe. This is the most important aspect to begin with, for resolving your issues. I would like to explain to you what the difference between a therapist and a psychologist is.

Psychologist

A psychologist has a degree in psychology and most of the time has taken more advanced studies in the same direction as well. These studies are doctorate or PHD study levels. Often they also research topics that are interesting for them. These kind of thesis is sometimes done with other colleagues, a faculty or higher education facilities. The goal and job of a psychologist is to diagnose the patient and based on the observations they determine a treatment.

Also they provide guidance, support and can help with understanding what the patient is going through, and help clarify their feelings. A psychologist can not prescribe medication. Only in consultation with a psychiatrist, the psychiatrist is allowed to prescribe medication for treatment.

Therapist

A therapist usually has different professions including social work, which is often used by social workers and different kind of counselors. The therapist usually has a degree in different fields and different levels. For example MD, PHD or master degrees. Therapists also provide many different sort of therapy, from therapy for adults to therapy for children. A therapist can also provide guidance and support, but the main function from the therapist is based on the area of expertise and the qualification they have. Transpersonal Therapy, an alternative to psychologist in The Hague - Online options

In this time when Covid is all around us, I would like to offer the therapy that I give also trough online options. I use Zoom platform, a safe and stable virtual space where to meet.

Integrative and transpersonal therapy is a serious alternative to clinical psychologists and psychotherapists.  Even though a session is not face to face you can receive the help you need.  I have worked with clients exhibiting a range of difficulties that impact their lives and cause them emotional and psychological distress.  Face to face & online sessions are both effective when performed by a professional therapist like myself.
